Simon Says Stamp Haul- May 2015

Hey guys! I’m back with another post on a super awesome haul from an absolutely amazing company, Simon Says Stamp.

Please note: These items were given to me as a gift, but that does not affect my opinion of them.

First up is some awesome dye ink. I received the following colors:

  • Lavender
  • Orange Peel
  • Audrey Blue
  • Fern
Top Row (Left to Right): Lavender, Orange Peel Bottom Row (Left to Right): Audrey Blue, Fern

Top Row (Left to Right): Lavender, Orange Peel
Bottom Row (Left to Right):
Audrey Blue, Fern

I was really impressed with how well the packaging is true to the color inside. Please note though that when you shop online, the color you see on your screen may not be exactly what you get.

Dye is ink that get absorbed into the paper. I noticed with this specific dye ink by Simon Says Stamp that the ink starts off looking not solid. Freak out moment! But over time, the image gets more solid. Score! Another thing to point out with any dye ink is that since the ink is absorbed into the paper, it will be a little lighter than originally stamped. I was happy that the colors of the Simon Says Stamp colors did not go dull though after being absorbed.

Fun Fact: The lids of these inks actually snap shut. I learned this the hard way when I tried to put them away without snapping them first and the lids popped off!

Next up were some super cute stamp sets from Simon Says Stamp. The first one is called Slumber Party, with the matching die set Girls Night Out.

The images in this stamp set will be perfect for coloring. The matching die set cuts out all of images in this stamp set and the sentiments would be perfect for a slumber party or an invite for a girls night out with friends.

The next stamp set is called Road Trip with a coordinating die set called On the Road.

Please note that this is a coordinating die set, not a matching die set. So this die will not match the images in this stamp set, but it does work with it. The die set makes a good frame for the images like the station wagon and the luggage and the bottom section of the frame would hold the sentiments perfectly!

Then we have some super cool stencils that I am ridiculously excited about. I can’t wait to play with them!

Both of the stencils I’m showing are 6×6 which means they will be very easy to use on a standard size A2 card front whether you’re making a landscape or top folding card. The first one is Tiny Spaced Hearts. These tiny hearts would be perfect for so many backgrounds. You could use regular inks and a dauber, or even some distress inks to make a well blended background with several colors.

Here’s a close up of those tiny hearts:

The next stencil is called Harlequin. This stencil has some nice big designs that would be great for some embossing paste.

Because the designs are so big, I would definitely recommend taping down all of the sides and workings from the larger parts of the stencil outwards. This will keep the the stencil from sliding on you when you are applying your ink.

Last but certainly not least is some card stock from Simon Says Stamp. I received the Daybreak pack of card stock.

If you are wanting to try card stock from a company that you are unsure about, I would definitely recommend trying a sample pack with different color choices. This pack has the following colors:

  • Lemon Chiffon
  • Lavender
  • Soft Navy
  • Burnt Orange
  • Fog
  • Smoke
  • Slate

There are three great gray colors in this sample pack, which is a great way to test them out with the inks I already have before committing to one gray over another.

Another wonderful thing about this card stock is that it is 100 lb. weight. This makes it super sturdy and perfect for card bases! I can’t wait to try this card stock out.

Joann’s Haul

I’ve been working to beef up my craft room because crafting is so much more fun when you have the right tools. I’m definitely not saying you need everything out there, but having some essentials on hand is so helpful!

I hit an awesome sale at Joann’s where all of the paper crafting supplies were 50% off! Score!

Entire Haul from Joann’s

I knew I wanted some Perfect Pearls pigment powder. I will be playing with some watercolor techniques and spraying techniques in the future. This will give my water for these techniques that perfect pearl shine.IMG_4557

I have some of the basic colors of embossing powders in my stash, but there have been a couple on my wish list. They were the following colors:

  • Pink
  • Liquid Platinum
  • Enchanted Gold

Can’t wait to try all of them out!

I’ve been looking for interesting embellishments. I think Stickles may help bring some different looks to my coloring. I got some basic colors:

  • Platinum (to match the Liquid Platinum embossing Powder)
  • Glam Pink
  • Star Dust

I would like to start adding dimensional embellishments and I originally was looking for some enamel dots. But why have a limited amount of them, when you can create as many as you want from a bottle? My thoughts exactly. I’m trying out the Paper Pen to see if I can get some good dimensional interest for my cards. IMG_4562

I have been loving some of the spray backgrounds recently. I’m think of getting some re-inkers to add to these mini misters or using them with water and the distress backgrounds. Who knows?

Every good card needs some good envelopes. I got these basic white A2 envelopes and I have been decorating them to match the card designs. The possibilities are endless.

I also got some water color paper that is cut to 4.25 by 5.5, which will be perfect for a card from. Can’t wait to get out some watercolors and play!

No crafting area is complete without an area to work on. I got craft mat, which is a non-porous area. It’ll be great for coloring, blending, mixing, and doing all sorts of fun crafty stuff on. Plus is will protect my desk. IMG_4566

Last but certainly not least is my collection of Mini Distress Inks. I also chose the tins to store them in to keep my workplace tidy, but they also stack very nicely.

Below are all of colors available online at Joann’s: IMG_4567 IMG_4568 IMG_4569 IMG_4570

I hope you enjoyed your look at my shopping trip I made online. Keep an eye out for information on sales and such. I will try to keep you posted so you can score some great deals as well!

My Favorite Things Haul

I have been working on beefing up my craft room to get some cards cranked out. I was in need of some Spring/Easter themed supplies for an awesome card, inspired by the one that I saw on Jennifer Mcguire’s blog here:

So I decided to hit the online shop My Favorite Things:

I needed some more fun colors of dye ink. My Favorite Things has a great variety. I picked the following colors:

  • Lemon Drop
  • Blu Raspberry
  • Tropical Teal
  • Orange Zest

I may not use all of these colors on the Spring colors. The Tropical Teal is a little darker than I expected, but it’s definitely a great addition to my collection, nonetheless.

You can check out all the choices here:

So funny story about this month’s Happy Trio Dies. It was a recent Free with $60 purchase. When I first looked at the die, I thought the second happy was misspelled. I emailed the company. Luckily, I’m just plain silly and I was reading the die upside down. I can’t wait to use these!

I chose a stitched rectangle die set so my card fronts could have a nice finished edge. I think a stitched edge can be just that, plus I like faux stitching in general because sewing is a personal interest of mine. IMG_4522

The Embellished Eggs stamp set has several great Spring/Easter sentiments, plus many fabulous eggs designs. These will be perfect for my Spring cards.IMG_4523

I got this stamp set purely for the the peep and the sentiments “To One of My Favorite Peeps”. How cute this that? This will be adorning my Easter/Spring cards that I send to individuals. IMG_4524

I hope you enjoyed this look at my shopping trip from My Favorite Things. I have a had a wonderful experience with their customer service and I look forward to doing business with them in the future.

Mama Elephant Haul- March 2015

I went a little crazy! There I admitted it. Now that I have gotten that out of the way, let’s get onto the good stuff.

There are so many cute things on the Mama Elephant website: It was so hard to narrow down my choices, so I went for immediate needs. Let’s check them out.

My whole haul from Mama Elephant

  • Confetti- Creative Cuts

Let’s start with dies. I needs some staple dies. The Confetti- Creative Cuts are just that: . I can see embossing some paper and die cutting a bunch just so I have them on hand. This would also allow me at have embellishments that would match my embossing powders.

Confetti Creative Cuts

  • Smile Script- Creative Cuts

Next up is a Smile Script- Creative Cuts: I plan on making quite a few well wishes cards, so Smile will come in very handy.

  • Hello Script- Creative Cuts

I can’t believe I didn’t pick this out sooner. A Hello die such as Hello Script- Creative Cuts: is just the perfect hello! This would be perfect for a simple greeting on a fun technique card.

  • Thanks Script- Creative Cuts

I love Thank You cards. I think they are the staple of the card community. Letting someone know that I am thankful for whatever they have done for me is very important to me. I can see the Thanks Script being used many times on my cards:

  • Ella and Friends

Now onto the stamps. Ella the elephant is so stinking cute! I have actually already used this stamp set to create a card front (you can check that out on my Instagram here if you’d like: Not only are the critter so cute, there are some excellent sentiments to make this stamp set a much needed one in my craft room!

  • Bear Hugs

Mothers’ and Fathers’ Day are both quickly arriving on our calendars. And Mama Elephant has saved the day with their Bear Hugs stamp set: I plan on using this stamp set for both occasions. The sentiments are perfect and the bears featured on this stamp set just display this love so perfectly!

  • Tiny Heroes

This next stamp set is a set that I fell in love with at first sight! My husband and I are part of an organize that provides support to active duty military and veterans. What better way to show them I think they are heroes with the Tiny Heroes stamp set?

  • Three Amigos

Last, but certainly not least, are our Three Amigos. These cute little critters have such cute simple sentiments to use. I can’t wait to use them soon!

I hope you enjoyed this quick look into my shopping from Mama Elephant. I definitely plan on ordering from them again and am already making my wish list. Plus, they have a release every month on the 15th. Can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

The MISTI has Come to My Craft Room!!!

Hello to my beautiful peeps!

So this is a purchase I have definitely been looking forward to and I’m so excited to be sharing it here right out of the box. I haven’t even given it a try first!

MISTI with grid paper, magnet, and recommended cleaner.

So if you haven’t heard of the MISTI yet, let me fill you in on some general information. It’s official name is Most Incredible Stamping Tool Invented or MISTI for short. It’s probably the best stamp press I have seen so far. It is absolutely perfect for placing your stamps down on your paper, then picking it up with the clean door. You can even straighten out your stamps on the grid screen printed on the clear door.

A better look at the clear door and the magnet inside.

If you would like to read more details about the MISTI, you can do so at the My Sweet Petunia website here:

With my MISTI, I chose to do a couple of the add on products, like the super strong magnet available. I like the idea of being able to hold my work in place, if needed.

I also chose to get some of the 6.5 by 8.5 pad of grid paper available on the My Sweet Petunia website, just to help measure up on the grid if I need to move the project I’m stamping on.

There is also the Novus plastic cleaner that is recommended for the screen printed door. I decided to purchase a bottle of this cleaner because I know I am so messy! I’m sure I’ll get ink everywhere the first time I use it.

I’ll be doing some cards soon, so I will post a video on the basics of how to use the MISTI! So excited!
