Happy Belated Fathers Day- Part Two: Featuring Simon Says Stamp’s Road trip and Mama Elephant’s Bella Letters

 Hey Crafty Friends!

Today I’m going to sharing the Fathers Day card I created for my own father. This was a special card for me because I wanted to create something that really expressed my love and my personality.

The Card Front

I decided to create a whole road trip theme on the front of this card. I started by coloring the station wagon on some Copic friendly paper.

Car colors:

  • B12
  • B14
  • C1
  • C3

Luggage colors:

  • E31
  • E35
  • E37
  • C1
  • C3
  • W1
  • W3

I stamped road lines in the Lemon Drop by My Favorite Things. From the same stamp set, I also stamped the clouds in some Unicorn White Pigment ink from Hero Arts.

I stamped the sentiment in some Memento Paris Dusk. The sentiment on the front reads “Teaching Your Kids is Like a Road Trip!” and the inside sentiment reads “Are We There Yet?”

I stamped the sun from the Road Trip stamp set in Versamark and embossed it in Ranger Enchanted Gold embossing powder.

Finally I added some glossy accents on the windows.

One of the happiest moments for me is when a card is read. When my dad opened this card, he looked at me, laughed and said no.

And that’s the truth!

I hope you enjoyed a look at this card and come back to see more.

Happy Belated Fathers Day- Part One: Featuring Mama Elephant’s Playful Pups and Bella Letters

Hey Crafty Friends!

I hope all of you guys out there enjoyed your Fathers Day. Mine was very eventful and full of the wonderful men in my life. I’d love to show you the cards I made for them! Let’s take a look, shall we?

The Card Front

The first card I will be showing you was for my father-in-law. He has a Frenchie, so the Frenchie from the Playful pups stamp set fit the bill perfectly! I stamped it and the bowl and ball on some Copic friendly paper and got to coloring.

French Bulldog colors:

  • 0
  • E00
  • W1
  • B12
  • R24

Ball Colors:

  • YG01
  • Y06

Bowl Colors:

  • C1
  • R24
  • R27
  • E31
  • E35
  • E37

I fussy cut out all of the little objects, including the dog and went around the edges with a Copic Multi-liner small brush pen so the images looked a little more finished.

Using the Grassy Trio die from Mama Elephant, I die cut the grass that this cutie was sitting on out of some green patterned paper scraps that I had in my stash.

I also die cut a scalloped square for his frame. On the frame I stamped “Everyone Has a Father” to go along with the sentiment I was adding the inside which says “I Have the Best” from the Bella Letters. I think a letter stamp set like this is so versatile because you can use it to make so many different sentiments that fit pretty much everywhere.

I added the frame and the little cut outs on the card front with some foam tape.

For the finishing touches, I added some glossy accents to the letter the Frenchie is holding and the bone on the bowl. I also added some silver gel pen to the spikes on his collar.

The Card Base

I used some Simon Says Stamp navy colored card stock for my base which was perfect because it doubled as my blue sky. I love this card stock because it’s so sturdy!

As always, I added my “handmade by cindy” stamp to the back of the card, since it was being given as a personal card.

Hindsight is 20/20

I used some Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink on the inside of the card base, which ended up being a fail. I had never stamped with it before, so I didn’t know how it would behave. It turns out that my ink pad has very thick ink and got in-between the small letters and make the sentiment look less than desirable. I ended up covering it with the white scalloped square that was cut from the front and stamping it with the same red to match the front.

Overall, I was very happy with this card. I hope you enjoyed seeing it and have a wonderful rest of your day!

Some of the supplies I used are listed below and as always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

Super Parents: Featuring Mama Elephant’s Nursery Deco and Tiny Heroes

Hey Crafty Friends!
I’m back with a card that is near and dear to my heart. This is a card I made for one of my best friends at her baby shower. Her theme was super heroes, since she’s having a little boy. Let’s take a look.

Card Front

I started by cutting my card front. I chose a 4.25in by 5.5in piece of 110 lb. Recollections card stock (from Michaels) and die cut it so it would have a faux stitched rectangle border around the whole piece. I knew I wanted to make the whole scene by coloring it in, so I didn’t want to trim any borders.

Next I stamped my images. I stamped a boy and a girl from the Mama Elephant’s Tiny Heroes set and a ball from the Nursery Deco set. I used a Copic Multi-liner to add the balloon piece at the bottom of the balloon and the strings, so it looked like both of the heroes were holding onto the same balloon.

Next I went to work coloring the scene. Here are the colors I used:

Heroes and Balloon:

  • E00
  • E02
  • R20
  • B12
  • B14
  • B18
  • R24
  • R27
  • R29
  • Y13
  • Y15
  • Y17
  • Y19
  • YR14
  • YR18
  • E15
 Background:
  • B00
  • C01
  • C03
  • R59

After masking off the scene with some rubber cement, I also used some distress ink to blend in the background. I found that the color Tumbled Glass almost matches B00 perfectly! Plus it makes for a very pretty skyline! It also provides a more defined border.

Since I used the MISTI stamping tool, I was able to re-stamp the sentiment with ease using Versamark ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

I finished off the card front by adding some Wink of Stella and Glossy accents to details on the card, such at their stars and the balloon.

The Card Base
I used some Simon Says Stamp card stock for the base and man, I just love it. It’s sturdy and perfect! I used the color Fog to tie into the colors I used for the rooftop in my scene.
I made sure I stamped the back with my custom stamp “handmade by cindy” since it was going to a personal friend.

Hindsight is 20/20

There are a couple fails noted with this card. First being, this started off as a watercolored card. Unfortunately, that did not pan out well. So what I did was switch it to a Copic colored card. I’m so much more comfortable coloring with Copics, so it worked out much better.
Another fail happened when I was embossing. I usually heat both the front and back of the paper I am heat embossing to prevent uneven warping. However, when I did it for this card, I flipped the hot embossing powder down on my craft mat. Luckily, it was not damaged during that oops moment of mine!

I hope you had as much fun as I did looking at this card and I hope it encourages you to mix and match some stamps sets you didn’t expect.

 Love, Cindy ADH
